Dennis and Phyllis Washington Horatio Alger Graduate Fellowship
A fellowship awarded to a Horatio Alger undergraduate pursuing a graduate education at the University of Montana and who have demonstrated extraordinary intellectual ability, integrity and leadership potential.

Dennis R. Washington Horatio Alger Graduate Fellows receive:
- $25,000 stipend
- $3,000 for meals and lodging
- a possible designation as a teaching assistant or research assistant at the University of Montana
- waiver of out of state tuition

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must have been prior recipient of an undergraduate Horatio Alger Scholarship
- Graduate from a 4-year regionally accredited institution of higher learning anywhere in the United States
- Applicants must subsequently be accepted to a Master's or Doctoral Degree program at The University of Montana
- Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25
- Evidence of community or civic involvement
- Academic references
- Appropriate standardized test score (GRE or GMAT)
- Leadership skills
A pre-application is required in order to apply for the Dennis R Washington Horatio Alger Graduate Fellowship. Go online to www.horatioalger.org and log into your individual scholar account and click on the "Dennis R. Washington Horatio Alger Graduate Fellowship Program." The application deadline for the Horatio Alger pre-application is October 15th, 2007 to December 15th, 2007. Separate deadlines apply for applications to graduate school at The University of Montana.
