Dennis and Phyllis Washington Native American Graduate Fellowship
The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation announces the creation of the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation Native American Graduate Fellowship at Montana State University and The University of Montana. Inquiries should be made to the graduate school admissions office at Montana State University and The University of Montana.
The Fellowship upholds Dennis Washington's long time vision of promoting the betterment of society and the development of a highly diverse workforce through education.

Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be accepted to a Master's or Doctoral Degree program at the Graduate School of The University of Montana or Montana State University (no law degree or medical related field, including pharmacy)
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate and 3.0 during any graduate program work
- One page typed essay indicating reasons for pursuing graduate education and goals for application of education
- Graduate from a 4-year regionally accredited institution of higher learning anywhere in the United States
- Five letters of reference, including two from nonacademic individuals
- Appropriate standardized test score, if required by program (GRE,GMAT)
- Montana resident
- Member of a Montana Indian Tribe

One Graduate Fellowship will be awarded annually to each of The University of Montana and Montana State University:
- $10,000 stipend each
- Designation as a research or teaching assistant
- Eligibility for Montana Native American Fee Waiver
The University of Montana or Montana State University can choose whether or not to renew the Fellowship after the first year (maximum 2 years for a Master's program and 3 years for a Ph.D. program).
