04.20.09 | The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation Donates to Billings Food Bank Capital Campaign

The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation presented the Billings Food Bank with a grant for their new facility. This state of the art building will drastically increase the Billings Food Bank’s ability to serve the surrounding communities in this time of ever-increasing need. The grant will be used for refrigeration units in the facility and will work in conjunction with their refrigerated truck. With both stationary and mobile refrigerated units, the food bank will be able to rescue thousands of pounds of perishable food from grocery stores and restaurants and get it to those who need it most in our community. Additionally, this gift serves as a catalyst to help the Billings Food Bank reach the five million dollar fundraising goal for their new facility. They are now past the 80% benchmark and hope to raise the remaining funds with support from the community and additional foundations.

“In a year when our foundation is striving to focus on basic needs organizations, we are proud to partner with the Billings Food Bank. They are an entity with proven dedication to and support from the greater Billings area,” said Kelly Hughes, Program Officer for the Foundation.

At such a crucial time in our national economy it is critical for the Bilings Food Bank to complete this new facility and be prepared for what the future will bring. If you would like further information, or if you are interested in making a donation or volunteering, please contact the food bank at (406) 259-2856.
