Helping disadvantaged youth realize the dream of attaining a higher education is a long-standing personal interest of Dennis and Phyllis Washington. The Washingtons understand the importance of higher education to remain competitive in the global market place. American Excellence Graduate Grant Program
A fellowship to provide financial assistance to National Scholar Alumni who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity, and who aspire to pursue a graduate level education.

Dennis and Phyllis Washington Horatio Alger Graduate Fellowship
A fellowship awarded to a Horatio Alger undergraduate pursuing a graduate education at the University of Montana and who have demonstrated extraordinary intellectual ability, integrity and leadership potential.

Horatio Alger Montana Undergraduate Scholarship Program
Montana high school seniors may apply for a scholarship that strives to provide educational opportunity to underprivileged Montana youth who have displayed academic promise, community involvement, and the ability to persevere in the face of adversity.

Dennis and Phyllis Washington Native American Graduate Fellowship
A scholarship created in 2007 to promote the betterment of society and development of a highly diverse, globally engaged workforce by awarding graduate fellowships at The University of Montana and Montana State University to Montana Native Americans.

Helen B. Miller Horatio Alger Scholarship
A scholarship awarded to one outstanding Montana State University undergraduate student each year, in honor of Washington Corporations' inspirational and longest term employee Helen B. Miller.

Washington Companies Employee Family Scholarship Program

Dennis and Phyllis Washington University of Montana Presidential Leadership Scholarship
The Presidential Leadership Scholarship was created through the Davidson Honors College at the University of Montana and receives funding from various donors. In 2000, The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation created a permanent endowment directed to the Presidential Leadership Scholarship program. Foundation funding is provided to one University of Montana student and is renewable over four years. Eligible students must be Davidson Honors College attendees showing good character, ability and academic performance. Applications for the Presidential Leadership Scholarship are available through the Davidson Honors College at the University of Montana.
