The Application Process
Follow these steps when applying for a grant. Please do not submit additional material such as photographs, letters of support or other printed materials. The Foundation will only consider applications that are submitted through the online application process.
Step 1: Read the Grant Guidelines
Review the Eligible Categories, the four focus areas of giving, and Ineligible Categories to ensure that your organization is eligible for consideration. If your program falls within any of the Ineligible Categories, your request cannot be considered.
Step 2: Complete the online Eligibility Review
After reading the Grant Guidelines, complete a short Eligibility Review which will help us to better assess your request. If you are eligible, you will be directed to the online Application Form.
Step 3: Submit the Application Form
After you submit the application form, you will be notified within 90 days of the status of your application.
Please do not submit additional material such as photographs, letters of support or other printed materials.
The Foundation will only consider applications that are submitted through the online application process.
Canadian Charitable Organizations
The Dennis & Phyllis Washington Foundation accepts applications from Canadian organizations on an invitational basis. To be invited to apply for a grant, each Canadian organization must first submit a letter of inquiry (LOI) in our grants management system.
Please review our Grant Guidelines and Ineligible Activities thoroughly. Then, walk through our Eligibility Review to ensure your project or programs aligns with the Foundation’s mission and grant priorities. If so, you will be prompted to create a new account or log-in to complete the LOI.
Please note: The Foundation limits its giving to areas in which our companies operate and employees live. In Canada, that is currently British Columbia.
If your organization is granted an invitation to submit the online application, including foreign equivalency documents, you will be notified within 90 days from submission of your letter of inquiry.
Grants
Creating Opportunities
When making a grant decision, we examine each organization’s financial stability, staffing and facility capacity, and relevant partnerships. Additionally, we assess the capability of an organization to sustain a program into the future and their ability to show measurable impact on the population they serve. Finally, funding is guided toward organizations that support low income, rural, and underserved populations through one of our four main focus areas: Education, Health and Human Services, Arts and Culture, and Community Service.
Our Grants
The Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation funds direct service non-profit organizations that help improve the quality of people’s lives by providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
Grant Guidelines
